The Jungle Resort is located in southern Goa, India within the natural boundary of the Western Ghats, best known as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As conceptual master planner and architectural design consultant, DF39’s primary thrust was to highlight the beauty of the natural surroundings and emphasize the concept of “treading lightly through nature”. This was implemented through low-density, minimal impact development practices from design and all the way to construction. The balance between aesthetics, architecture, open space programming and sustainability became the key tenets for this low-impact resort project. The intent of this development is to become a jungle resort destination where guests and visitors can relax, rejuvenate and be immersed in the surrounding natural setting. The proposed programs and planned facilities were carefully reviewed and prepared in order to not disturb the natural surrounding but instead enhance the guests’ authentic jungle experience of the natural jungle for both leisure and tourism purposes.
